TokyoTreat June 2018

Once again a new TokyoTreat is here, bringing with it a horde of Japanese snacks I might not have heard of otherwise, along with a drink, DIY snack, kinosei snack, and of course the monthly umaibo. This these is Summer Carnival, bringing with it a wide variety of odd flavors that you could only get from carnival food. Sounds like an exciting theme, let's see what we've got!
  • Happy Turn Soy Sauce Cheese Flavor
  • Meiji Takenoko no Sato Cookies & Cream
  • Yogurt Ginza Rusk
  • Doraemon Gummies
  • Chee-zack
  • Cream Rusk
  • Ikinari Dango Kit Kat

And in this picture:
  • Koikeya Scone Rich Corn Flavor
  • Kakigori Ramune Candy
  • DIY Popsicle Kit
  • Melon Cream Soda Chips
  • Salty Seaweed Stick Potato Snack
  • Pepsi J-Cola Midnight
A lot of variety here! Just compare this with the almost entirely strawberry February pack and it's clear TokyoTreat has stepped up their curation. Particularly excited for the Kit Kat, Takenoko no Sato, and corn scone!

  • Splatoon Gummies
  • Sriracha Rice Chips
  • Minute Maid Craftz Cherry & Peach

TokyoTreat April 2018

It took slightly longer for me to get my TokyoTreat box time, but still within an acceptable window. Knowing some of the items that were in this made the wait that much more difficult because they look so good! This box has an Easter theme and we have:
  • Easter Banana Kit Kats (different from the Tokyo Banana ones I reviewed earlier
  • Dos Tacos Grilled Corn Flavor
  • Meigum Colorful Seeds Soft Candy
  • Umaiwa Cheese

  • Choco Banana DIY Kit (reviewed here)
  • Calbee Plum Seaweed Chips
  • Tohato Caramel Corn (reviewed here)
  • Kyoro-chan's Custard Pudding Snack
  • Baby Bear Gummies
  • Pakkuncho Disney Custard Pudding Biscuits
  • Healthy Snacking Squishy Lemon Gummies
  • Gudetama Orange Candy
  • Umaibo Teriyaki Burger
  • White Chocolate Milk Tea
All in all one of the most exciting boxes yet! Especially with the milk tea and two pudding snacks. It takes a lot of willpower not to just dive into some of these things!

TokyoTreat March 2018

The March theme for this TokyoTreat box is Sakura Season Surprise. While I was very pleased at the quantity of items from the last box and many of them were delicious, I got a little tired of the nonstop strawberry flavors, so I was a little worried that this one would be nothing but sakura flavor. Luckily that's not the case - there's some sakura in here, but a lot of varied flavors all with a spring theme, so I can't wait to dig into this box!

The contents in the above pic are (reading order):

  • Sakura Marshmallows
  • Ginbis Shimichoco Corn - Milky Red Bean
  • Chocolate Kinako Mochi DIY
  • Anpanman Festival Rice Puffs
  • Puccho Gummy - Hoppe-Chan Cherry
  • Squid Jerky
  • Ginger Tea Hard Candy
  • Amazake Kit Kats
  • Veggie Salad Umaibo
And in this pic we have:
  • Sakura Shrip Potato Ring Party Pack
  • Salty Split Pea Snacks
  • Peach Coca-Cola
  • Sweet Soy Sauce Cracker Share Pack
  • Melon Bread Cookie
All in all a lot of variety and good portions in this box. I can't wait to dig in!

Update: Domain name, upcoming snacks, and Kit Kats!

Got a couple of things to talk about! First of all, this blog now has a domain name! If you haven't been redirected already, the new address is puppyeats.blog.

Also in case anyone was wondering, what I was going to munch on soon, there's a new entry to the side bar called "In the Food Bowl" for things I have and will review soon.

Most exciting, I ordered a box of Kit Kats! This way I can get the full experience of all those lovely Japanese flavors available, 30 flavors here so a lot to talk about. The list of flavors in reading order is (after the jump):

TokyoTreat Feburary 2018

New month, new subscription box! After 3 months of Japan Crate, I've decided to try out TokyoTreat. Why is that? More food! I found that Japan Crate included a lot of tiny portions of items, whereas TokyoTreat usually includes a full pack, and as a hungry pup this is very important to me. There are slightly less items, but also a party pack and share pack, which is very cool for getting the other members of my pack to experience Japanese snacks. The quantity was so large that I couldn't fit everything in this picture! In this picture, in reading order by top left corner, we have:

  • Lotte Pie no Mi Sweet Strawberry Chocolate
  • Strawberry Barley Puffs
  • Pretty Cure DIY Millkshake
  • Ice Cream Lolly
  • Cola Flavored Sour Long Gum
  • Cola Gummies Share Pack
  • Koikeya Sour Plum Chips
  • Ginbis Bar Z Chocolate (already reviewed here)
  • Rose x Berry Glamatic Tablets
  • Ultimate Muscle Chocolate Wafer
And the other items:
  • Maroyaka Milk Chocolate Strawberry Party Pack
  • Ginza Rusk Strawberry
  • Pepsi Strawberry Shortcake
  • Shrimp Mayonnaise Umaibo
Lots of strawberry in this pack! Which is a good thing, strawberry tends to be a well-done flavor in Japanese cuisine. Lots of exciting things to try, though I'm a bit bummed about the DIY snack being a milkshake after the last one... but maybe it'll be better.

January 2018 Japan Crate

New year, but more importantly, new month and new Japan Crate! This one is themed on Attack on Titan, and I have minimal knowledge on this manga so you'll won't hear any references from me. Besides based on the images, it looks really scary, doesn't it? But nevertheless, I am excited about a good few of the treats lying within. Here's what we have (in reading order from the left corners of the items):

  • Potato Chips Salt and Hokkaido Konbu
  • Uma Salt Potato Chips
  • Bottle Sour, Cider Flavor
  • Attack on Titan Collectible Download Card (not a candy but still there...)
  • Chocolate Banana
  • Maken Gummy Cola
  • Big Bar Z Milk
  • Onigiri Senbei
  • Henshin! Transform Glasses
  • Lemon Flavor Pocky Colorful Shower
  • Konnyaku Jelly Stick
  • Cabbage Taro
  • Black Thunder Kinako
  • Odangoyasan DIY Kit
  • Gabunomi White Cola
While I'm a little disappointed that there's a card instead of more candy, that may be my stomach talking. I'm particularly excited about the DIY kit from this month, because it looks like there's a variety of fun things to make there, as well as the cabbage taro. Not sure what to expect from the Bottle Sour or the glasses, and there are some variations on things I have had before like the jelly stick and the Big Bar Z. Should be an interesting batch!

Update - Ratings!!!

It has come to my attention that I should be assigning numeric ratings to everything I eat as well as describing them, because how else are visitors supposed to know exactly which snacks are better than which? Obviously as a ravenous puppy I'm going to scarf everything down, but some of you might be more picky. Therefore I've decided to use this rating system.

1 - Awwwrrrr...
2 - Awrr
3 - Rrr
4 - Boof!
5 - Ruff!
6 - Aruff!
7 - Aroof!
8 - Rowf!
9 - Arooooo!
10 - AWOOOOOOO!!!

I will update previous entries accordingly. Ruff!
