Strawberry pie? Sign me up! Very excited for this one if it looks like anything like the pictures on the box. Also that squirrel doesn't look nearly as excited as she should be, and I don't see that tail wagging... what a poor spokesperson. Anyways this snack promises a strawberry filling in the middle of puff pastry, which is sure to be an amazing combination. And a relatively big box. Hopefully nice and flaky and creamy.
So far the pies look as promised! One interesting thing is that once again, the box opens from the top, which I quite like. And inside is a sizeable number of these flaky treats. They even seem to have a bit of glaze on them, I thought that was just embellishment on the box picture, but it's real! And not sticky. And judging by the crumbs these make quite the correct texture. The strawberry smell is also very strong, surprising since not a bit of the strawberry filling is exposed to the outside.
A bite into the pie did not disappoint, as my canines instantly dove into layers and layers of pastry, tearing through one to the next. It really is a beautiful thing. The strawberry filling is not this gushing pink river that the box made it out to be, but it is there in a pretty sizeable amount, sandwiched between the pastry layers. The strawberry filling in turn is on the sweeter side, which works because the pastry isn't, it's more of a rich bread flavor, so the two complement each other perfectly. Individually the components certainly aren't as great. And the little glaze on the top seems to add a bit of a honey flavor to the treat? Which I am a HUGE fan of. To the point where I can't stop eating these... This snack certainly does not disappoint, and watch out, it's incredibly addictive!
